What We're Working For

Conservation

We ran a nationwide campaign to pass the Great American Outdoors Act, America’s most sweeping conservation law in decades. We also won the nation’s first statewide bans on single-use plastic bags in California and single-use polystyrene foam containers in Maine, both big victories for the ocean wildlife harmed by single-use plastic trash. 100% Renewable Energy

We’re promoting a bold and clear vision of a greener, healthier world powered solely by clean, renewable energy. Our 100% Renewable campaign is focused on the three arenas in which we can make the most immediate progress: college and university campuses, cities and states, and Congress. So far, we've helped convince eight states to commit to 100 percent clean power, and we're not stopping there. Learn about all our Clean, Green & Renewable Energy campaigns here.

Environment America Litigation Project

For 30 years, our litigation team has, when necessary, taken polluters directly to court under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and other environmental laws, winning more than $250 million in court-ordered penalties and pollution-reducing actions. We’re prepared to bring more polluters to court in defense of our air, our water and the people and wildlife that depend on them. Learn about all our litigation work here.

Wildlife Over Waste

Every day, people throw away millions of pieces of disposable plastic “stuff.” By design, plastic takes hundreds of years to fully degrade — which means that almost every piece of plastic ever produced is still out there and will continue to pollute our water and threaten wildlife for centuries to come. Nothing we use for a few minutes should be allowed to pollute our world for hundreds of years. That’s why we’re working to ban single-use consumer plastics in states across the country. Learn about all our Conservation campaigns here.

Destination: Zero Carbon

To slow global warming, we need to change how we get around. We’re calling for all new cars and trucks to be electric by 2035, for all buses to be electric by 2030, for doubling the number of people who walk or bike by 2030. Our Destination: Zero Carbon campaign is working to electrify cars, electrify buses and encourage people to drive less and live more in more than a dozen states.
