Environment America Internships

If you care about the environment and want to make a difference, apply to be an Environment America intern today.

The damage we're doing to the earth is both unsustainable and infuriating. Climate change is speeding up. Plastic pollution is piling up. There's even evidence that global deforestation is spreading diseases like COVID-19. But solutions to these problems are all around us, practically begging us to adopt them: solar and wind power, electric cars and buses, more walkable and “bikeable” cities, sustainable alternatives to harmful single-use plastics, more protections for wild places and wildlife, and on and on. Environment America’s mission — the thing that drives everything we do — is to transform our ideas and imaginations into change that makes our world a greener and healthier place.

Our Campaigns

  • We build support for clean, renewable energy. We’ve persuaded dozens of states to increase the power they get from solar and wind. Our environmental groups in the states have helped convince California, New Mexico, Washington state, Virginia and Maine to commit to 100 percent carbon-free electricity in just the past few years.

  • We campaign against pollution and climate change. Our litigation team has won more than 100 enforcement actions and $250 million in penalties and upgrades against ExxonMobil and other polluting companies. We’ve also won pollution reduction programs to cut carbon emissions from power plants, cars and other sources, from Colorado to Massachusetts.

  • We protect wildlife and wild places. We’ve won state and local action to ban the most common and problematic bee-killing pesticides. We won the nation’s first statewide bans on single-use plastic bags in California and single-use polystyrene foam in Maine, both big victories for ocean wildlife. We helped make the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund permanent.
