PennEnvironment seeks a skilled and savvy advocate to persuade key decision-makers in the Pittsburgh area to protect local residents from dangerous air pollution being released by the region’s largest polluters.
Clean air is vital for our health, our ecology, and our quality of life. But Pittsburgh’s long legacy of industrial air pollution continues to put the health of local residents at risk. So PennEnvironment is working to hold local decision-makers, regulators, and the polluters themselves accountable to ensure we finally achieve clean air in Pittsburgh. Our Clean Air Organizer will be responsible for making this happen.
PennEnvironment is a statewide, citizen-based non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We believe there’s something special about Pennsylvania — something worth protecting and preserving for future generations. Whether it’s a beloved river or stream like the Allegheny or the Monongahela, our rolling family farmland, or our 120 state parks, Pennsylvania’s natural wonders enrich our lives in countless ways. Yet the places we love and the environmental values so many of us share are too often threatened by powerful polluters, short-sighted politicians and more. Defending our environment requires independent research, tough-minded advocacy and spirited grassroots action.
That’s the idea behind PennEnvironment. Together with tens of thousands of supporters from all walks of life, we take the kind of action that wins tangible results for our environment.
Candidates must have at least 1-3 years of relevant professional experience. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to environmental issues and to citizen-based social change, as well as a track record of leadership. We’re looking for goal-driven, results-oriented individuals who have excellent verbal, writing, and analytical skills, the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere, and enthusiasm for the work.
